Repairing your windscreen is an excellent risk free choice that can save you money. However, there are some details of the repair process that one should consider before proceeding.
Repairing glass is unpredictable and on rare occasions the windscreen damage may get worse and/or spread during the repair process. Often this is beyond our control, however, every measure is taken by our very experienced technicians minimise this risk.
Feel free to read our FAQ so you can decide if a windscreen repair is the correct choice for you.

How much will a windscreen repair cost?
We provide mobile windscreen repairs from $149.00 and $60.00 for every other repair on the same windscreen.
Will the repair pass a Road Worthy Certificate?
Yes it should, providing it is within the Australian Standard. However, you are advised refer to your RWC service mechanic for confirmation before you go ahead with the repair.
Will the chip disappear after the repair?
No, however the chip will be much improved. When we repair a windscreen we inject resin (specifically for windscreens) into the damage. This disguises the chip and restores the structural strength to the windscreen. Repairing is simply a cost effective way to salvage your windscreen and prevent you from having to replace.
If the damage gets worse will you replace my windscreen for free?
Unfortunately not, repairing a windscreen carries an element of risk and this risk is beyond our control as glass is fragile and very unpredictable.
We take the greatest of care but we take no responsibility if the chip gets worse during the repair process. That said, this is rare.
Our technicians take extra precautions to minimise this risk by keeping the temperature of the glass low.
Another company was twice your price, they said they were better.
Yes, prices can be vastly different for similar windscreen repair services, however, this does not mean their repair process is superior. We guarantee that no other repair system can repair windscreen chips to a higher quality than the USA made Delta Kits system used by us.
The quality of a windscreen repair is dependent on the skill level and experience of the technician. We use a manual operated repair system that can repair more types of chips in more places on the windscreen. In other words, our repair system can repair damage that others who use automated systems can’t.
Finally, if you have been told your windscreen can’t be repaired and you must replace, it pays to get a second expert opinion. Give us a call today.
What conditions are required for a windscreen repair?
The vehicle should ideally be located in a garage or car port during the summer months. This allows us to keep the temperature of the windscreen low and minimises the risk of the damage spreading during the repair process.
Further, we can’t perform windscreen repairs in the rain as water contaminates the chip and prevents optimal results.
You only get one chance to repair a windscreen and if it’s unsuccessful you will have to replace. So for optimal results we advise that conditions should be as best as possible before we commence our work.
Do you price match others?
We frequently research local windscreen repair prices and charge a fair price by comparison. However, it should be noted that not all businesses offer the same quality products or services.
Service 8 Auto Glass is a NSW Licensed and Certified repairer with over 30 years experience. In QLD no License or Certification is required to operate a windscreen repair business. This can sometimes mean cheaper prices, but at the risk of poor quality products provided by inexperienced staff.
